About this school
As a part of the King Kekaulike Complex, Kalama School works closely with five feeder schools and high school in aligning the K-12 curriculum. The school’s academic and financial plan is focused on preparing students to succeed in college and careers.
The school’s music program continues to impress other communities, with performances on the neighbor islands and abroad. In 2011-12, the school band, bells, chorus and ukulele programs all traveled to Disneyland to showcase their talents. Also in the same year, Hawaiian Immersion students took top honors in the Na Mele Competition, bringing home the coveted perpetual trophy.
In school year 2015-16, Lokelani and Kalama Intermediate were recipients of free iPads and 5-GB-per-month data plans from Verizon via the Digital Promise program to create innovative learning environments. The video above shows some of the ways students are using devices in their everyday learning.
